About a year ago, one of my Facebook friends asked me to do a love story cartoon for him and his girlfriend. To be honest, the last time I saw him, he was maybe 10 at sleepaway camp, so it was a bit surprising! I've done a few of these before that are at most six small panels. But he asked for a book!
Fast forward to June, a full year later, he said he was ready to propose and wanted a book. It was a lot of work. But, it was such a good creative challenge and we were both so happy with the final product. And, this couple had such a sweet love story, I enjoyed doing it and learning about them and their friends and family.
I drew 1-3 cartoons per "page" in their love story, and designed it using a photobook software. I based the characters on the couple and their friends and on photos the soon-to-be groom sent me. Apparently, his fiance said her character looked like her!
