As the anniversary of October 7 approaches, organizations in New York City are hosting several memorial events to honor the lives impacted by this day. Havdalah for Hostages: October 7 Commemoration

Sat., Oct. 5, 7:30-8:30 pm, Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan

Free, pre-registration encouraged.


Join this special Havdalah service to honor the hostages taken on October 7. The evening will include prayers and communal candle lighting to symbolize hope and solidarity.


October 7th Community Gathering

Monday, Oct. 7, 8:30-10 am, Williamsburg


Join Jewish Food Society for a gathering of community to commemorate the anniversary of this tragic day. Light breakfast honoring the memory of the late Stav Geta. Location info upon RSVP.


Their Words, Our Hearts: The Poetry of October 7th

Monday, Oct. 7, 12 pm, Central Synagogue

Free and open to the community.


This special program features poetry readings that capture the emotions and reflections surrounding October 7. Attendees will engage with the art of poetry as a means of remembrance. This includes a Middle Eastern lunch.


Harmony: Remembrance Music for the Fallen

Monday, Oct. 7, 12-5 pm,  Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan

Free, registration required.


Join us in the JCC lobby—the heart of our community space—for a series of profoundly moving music sessions. Through the universal language of music, we'll embark on a journey of reflection, respect, and remembrance—honoring the courage and sacrifices of the fallen soldiers and civilians on October 7. Music will be played at noon, 2 pm, and 5 pm.


October 7, One Year Later: Community-Wide Commemoration at Temple Emanu-El

Monday, Oct. 7, 5:30 pm, Temple Emanu-El

As the one-year anniversary approaches, it’s more critical than ever that we come together to honor the memories of heroes we’ve lost since that fateful day and hear from Nova festival survivors, hostage family members, community leaders, and more. Doors open at 4:00 pm. The program begins at 5:30 with a live performance folllowed by the livestream from Rumsey Playfield at 6:00 pm.


October 7 Commemoration

Monday, October 7, 6-8 pm, Jewish Community Project of Lower Manhattan

Free, but registration is appreciated.


This event aims to provide a platform for sharing memories and reflections on the events of October 7. Participants will come together for prayers and community support.


Seventh on Sixth: Marking One Year Since October 7

Monday, Oct. 7, 7:30-8:30 pm, Sixth Street Synagogue

Free and open to the public.


This service provides a space for communal mourning and reflection. Participants will gather to share in prayers and readings, fostering a sense of togetherness in remembrance. Hosted by Modi Rosenfeld, Periel Aschenbrand, and Rabbi Gavriel Bellino. Featuring Liat Corinne and Eli Levin.


We Will Dance Again by Friday Night Hub

Tuesday, Oct. 8, 7:30 pm, Temple Emanuel

Remember the Nova victims in a special commemoration and then celebrate their spirit in the most concrete way possible: by bringing to life the phrase that has become their mantra: WE WILL DANCE AGAIN to the music by DJ Yarin Artifex Ilovich, who spun at Nova.


Tekumah: How Do We Rebuild?

Sunday, October 20, 5-8 pm, Jewish Community Project of Lower Manhattan

$36 for GA, $72 for VIP


As we mark the anniversary of October 7, we will be joined by three members of Kibbutz Nir Oz: Liat Atzili, Ola Metzger, and Morran Moses. After we hear stories from Kibbutz Nir Oz, there will be multiple breakout sessions to discuss how to move forward, heal, and rebuild with dignity and purpose after experiencing a tragedy.


These events serve as a meaningful reminder of the strength and unity within the community. Whether through music, dance, prayer, or poetry, attendees will find ways to honor the memories of those impacted by the events of October 7. Be sure to register in advance where needed to ensure your participation in these significant commemorations.
